In Deceitful, Laughable Defence, Senate Says 109 Senators Need N4.7billion Cars For Committee Shuttle

The Nigerian Senate has responded to a PREMIUM TIMES exclusive report exposing its plan to illegally spend an estimated N4.7 billion on exotic cars for its President, Bukola Saraki, and 108 other members.
In a statement by its spokesperson, Aliyu Abdullahi, on Sunday, the upper legislative chamber claimed the vehicles being procured were for committee assignments.
“The vehicles are not meant for individual Senators,” Mr. Abdullahi said. “They are purchased for the use of the committees.”
Mr. Abdullahi did not explain the kind of committee work that demands each of our 109 senators to have individual cars.

The “news” that Israel and Turkey are systematically violating international law is hardly news at all. After all, we all know that Turkey has been regularly bombing the Kurds in Iraq and Syria, that Turkey still illegally occupies northern Cyprus just like the Israelis have been bombing Syria and Lebanon for decades and that they are still illegally occupying Palestine. 

No Itsekiri Among Looters –Buhari

The 20th Olu of Warri, Ikenwoli Gbesimi Emiko 1, was on Saturday crowned in coastal Ode-Itsekiri, Delta State, with several politicians, industrialists, traditional rulers and religious leaders in attendance.
At the event, President Muhammadu Buhari, who was represented by Among the Secretary to The Government of the Federation, Mr. David Lawal, said no Itsekiri person was among corrupt persons who had been returning loot to the coffers of the Federal Government.

“Already,” the source said, “a small team of legal and financial experts has been directed to weigh the various implications the removal of the CBN chief could trigger, especially to prevent a similar backlash, as when the past government engineered the untimely retirement of former CBN governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi.”

Car Bomb Blast in Syria's Homs Kills Civilians

Over 22 people were killed in a massive blast in the Syrian city of Homs near a hospital, according to a source.

At least 22 people were killed and over 70 injured in the explosion near a charity association and the al-Ahli hospital in the center of the Syrian city of Homs, a source in the hospital said Saturday.

"According to our information, 22 people have died. There are about 70 injured people in the hospital. Some of the wounded were also taken to other hospitals," an employee at the al-Ahli hospital told RIA Novosti.
