In their continuous efforts of clearing the remnants of Boko Haram in various hideouts and enclaves, troops of 7 Brigade, 8 Task Force Division, have also embarked on clearance operations, since yesterday in which they cleared Boko Haram hideouts ahead of Gratte in Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State.

Ajimobi: No Free Land For Grazing

Oyo State Governor Abiola Ajimobi yesterday criticised the proposed creation of grazing zones across the country as ill-advised.

He warned that the proposal is against the spirit of the land use act and the overriding public interest.

The governor spoke on the raging controversy trailing the alleged sponsorship of a bill at the National Assembly for the creation of grazing zones for cattle across the country as a panacea to the perennial clash between trespassing herdsmen and farm owners.

It was at the launch of the ‘Agric Oyo,’ the Oyo State agriculture initiative, at Paago, via Iseyin, in Oke Ogun zone.

Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, says his children are also facing the effects of the poor electricity supply presently being experienced in the country. He said they suffer from heat rashes, sweat a lot and also wonder what exactly he, as the minister in charge of power, is doing about the electricity challenge. Fashola said this while speaking on Channels TV yesterday "It's a very hot season of the year. I see my children too sweating, having heat rash and they look at me like what are you doing about this thing. Let me be very clear, this problem can be solved. It needs detailed and methodical approach. First work to do is to supply more gas because without gas, I am like a generator owner who can't get fuel, so I can't power my plants. There are errors of planning of yesterday but they are errors that can be corrected"he said.

Men suspected to be cult members have attacked and injured a 42-year-old man, Adewale Omotosho, a member of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), at Shimawa, Ogun State. Omotosho was accused of sleeping with the stepmother of some members of the cult group known as Golden Star.

It was gathered that about 10 suspected members of the group, led by the stepchildren of the woman, attacked the victim on Monday with dangerous weapons. Omotosho said he and his wife went to a friend’s house in the community when he was attacked.

Banks To Stop Using Their Platforms For TSA As They Issue Threats

Nigeria’s Treasury Single Account (TSA) regime formulated by the Federal Government to shield its resources from pilfering may experience a flop, following hints that lenders are planning to stop the use of their platforms for TSA.

The grouse of the banks is the one percent transaction charge, based on the use of Remita, an e-payment and e-collection software, on their platforms.

From the transaction charge, 10 percent goes to the CBN; 40 percent goes to banks; while 50 percent goes to SystemSpecs.

Anwuli Chikere Withdraws From Moro’s Trial

Anwuli Chikere, justice of the federal high court, Abuja, has withdrawn from the trial of Abba Moro, former minister of interior, citing personal reasons. In March, Justice Chikere granted Moro bail on self-recognition, and had adjourned the case to April 27 for trial. However, as the case was called on Monday, she announced her withdrawal from it. “I am sending it back to the chief judge of the federal high court for reassignment on personal reasons,”Chikere said. “When it is reassigned, the prosecution can go after it.” Moro is accused of defrauding 676,675 job seekers of N676,675,000 in an immigration recruitment exercise that led to the death of at least 20 young Nigerians.

The Chairman, Anambra State Investment Protection and Promotion Agency, ANSIPPA, Chief Joe-Billy Ekwunife stated this at the ANSIPPA Headquarters when he received the Kogi State New Direction Blueprint Team who were in the state on a peer learning and fact-finding mission.

Chief Ekwunife who explained that the Agency was set up by Governor Willie Obiano to initiate and support initiatives that will enhance the investment climate in the state as well as ensure that investment processes are devoid of rigours and bottlenecks, said so far the Agency had attracted over 3.2 dollars in investment.

As the trial of the Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, continues at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT), the Chairman of the CCT has entertained the hearing of the motion to recuse himself filed by one of Saraki’s Counsel’s, Ajibola Oluyede.

Recall that at the Thursday, April 21st sitting of the tribunal, Justice Umar had lost his temper at Oluyede and repeatedly yelled at the Counsel to the Senate President to “Sit Down!” when the counsel attempted to bring up the motion relating to his bribery charges.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arraigned a banker (pictured) for fraudulent loan disbursement. A state released on their official facebook page reads, "The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 arraigned one Arinze Jim Ezetulugo before Justice Dugbo Oghoghore of the Federal High Court Enugu State on a four count charge bordering on conspiracy and granting loan with defective security contrary to Section 17 (4)(a) of the Failed Banks (Recovery of Debts) and Financial Malpractices in Banks Act, Chapter F2 Volume 6, Laws of the federation of Nigeria 2004."

MASSOB To Buhari: End Fulani Herdsmen Attacks On S-east In 30days Or…

ABA- Following incessant attacks by Fulani herdsmen in some states of the federation, Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign States of Biafra, MASSOB, have given a 30 days ultimatum to President Muhammadu Buhari to end the attack on innocent Nigerians or face its wrath.


MASSOB which said it is worried by the inability of the federal government to stop the increasing destruction of farmlands, raping of women, armed robbery, kidnapping, as well as killing of innocent Nigerians by Fulani herdsmen, accused President Buhari of protecting the attackers who are his kinsmen.

The Nigerian Army has disclosed that Boko Haram terrorists now have new uniforms. According to a statement released today by Director Amy Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman, troops of 22 Brigade Garrison and elements of 3 Battalion that went out on long range fighting patrol yesterday, Monday 25th April 2016, to Gima village in Ngala Local Government Area made the startling discovery. According to the statement, the patrol came in contact with some elements of the Boko Haram that started escaping in disarray on sighting the team.

Six Doctors and a Driver Lose Their Lives in a Fatal Accident in Ekiti


Six medical doctors and one driver from Ekiti state on Sunday lost their lives in an accident involving a 13-passenger bus a few kilometres to Kaduna. The six doctors, according to a statement by the Special Assistant to the governor on Public Communication and New Media were Dr Aladesanmi of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Ido-Ekiti; Dr Ojo Taiwo of the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH); NMA Secretary, Dr Akinyele Lexy; Dr Ogunseye of the Health Management Board (HMB); EKSUTH Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) President, Dr Olajide, Dr Adeniyi James of the FMC and a driver, Mr Ajibola.

A senior editor at Bangladesh's first LGBT magazine Roopbaan and leading gay rights activist has been hacked to death in the capital Dhaka. He was killed today Monday, April 25, Dhaka Tribune reports.

Julhaz Mannan, 35, (pictured with ambassador Dan Mozena) was the founder and editor of the magazine and also worked at the US development agency USAID.
