EFCC Docks Two for Land Scam

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC, on Wednesday April 27, 2016, arraigned Nnaji Steven and Nnamani Sunday on a four count charge bordering on forgery, uttering and conspiracy to obtain the sum of N330,000.00 (three hundred and thirty thousand naira ) by false pretence, under the guise that they own a piece of land at Nike in Enugu State which they claimed was up for sale and swindled a certain Ofurum Uchida of the said sum.

Court Remands Business Woman for N25.9m Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC, on Tuesday May 3, 2016, arraigned Obiageli Funmilayo Nwagu on a six count charge of Obtaining Money by False Pretence and Issuance of Dud Cheques before Justice C. O Ajah of the State High Court, Enugu.


The accused person pleaded not guilty on all counts.

In view of the accused person’s plea, the defense counsel, O.A.U Onyema prayed the court to grant the accused bail. But the prosecuting counsel, M.A Shehu opposed the bail application and immediately drew the attention of the court to two separate applications for bail by the defense. The defense counsel immediately withdrew the earlier application, which the court granted.

How Sodangi, Kaduna Pension Consultant Collected N66.5m Pension - Witness tells court

The investigation was triggered by a petition written by a group named, "movement for better future", which alleged massive fraud in the Kaduna State Pension Bureau. The petitioners alleged that the then management of the Bureau conspired with the consultant to steal pension fund through enrolment of ghost pensioners.


They identified some of the ghost pensioners to include "Mohammed Ibrahim (Keystone bank), Mohammed S. (FCMB) and Abdullahi Shehu (Access bank).

EFCC Arraigns Bank Manager for N8m Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes, EFCC on Thursday May 5, 2016 arraigned one Irene Okeoha before Justice S. C. Amadi of the State High Court, Port-Harcourt, Rivers State on one-count charge of stealing to the tune of eight million naira (N8, 000, 000. 00).



Okeoha, who is the customer service manager, Ecobank Plc, Hotel Presidential branch, allegedly defrauded the bank of  the sum of eight million naira.

Internet Scam: Fraudster Bags Two Years Imprisonment.

A Federal High Court sitting in Warri, Delta State has convicted and sentenced to two years imprisonment, Osayemi Dumi. Dumi was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on a 4-count charge bordering on money laundering and obtaining money by false pretence to the tune of N26, 200 ,0000 (twenty six million, two hundred thousand naira).


Upon his arraignment, he pleaded not guilty to the 4-count charge, but later changed his plea to guilty. His latest plea changed the course of the trial.

7 killed after suspected Herdsmen attack community in Zamfara

No fewer than seven people were confirmed dead with many others injured after suspected herdsmen launched an attack on Madada and Ruwan Tofa villages in Zamfara state yesterday May 4th. Confirming the attacks, the state police command's spokesperson, Sanusi Amiru, said a group of suspected herdsmen attacked Madada village to steal petrol from the residents while another group attacked Ruwan Tofa village, killing some people. Both incidents recorded high number of injured persons The police say they are working to restore law and order in both villages.

The occupants of the vehicle, upon seeing RRS men, suddenly alighted from the car, took to their heels and abandoned the vehicle. Troops of 7 Division based on information received, conducted a special operation at Chingurimi, Walasa and Masa villages which were believed to have large concentration of abducted women and children were held hostages by the Boko Haram terrorists on Wednesday 4th May 2016.

The troops killed quite a number of Boko Haram terrorists and rescued 17 women, an old man and 24 children at the area.

They also recovered 1 AK-47 rifle, 6 rounds of 7.62mm, 295 rounds of 7.62mm (NATO), 12 Dane Guns, 21 unserviceable mobile telephone handsets and one serviceable as well as150 different SIM cards.

#2016Budget: FG Unveils 34 Priority Projects

President Muhammadu Buhari will today receive the clean copy of the 2016 budget from the National Assembly, just as the federal government has unveiled 34 strategic priority projects for this year.

Speaking to State House correspondents after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, minister of state for budget and national planning, Zainab Ahmed, alongside the minister of information, Lai Mohammed, minister of state for industry, trade and investment, Aisha Abubakar, minister of state for foreign affairs, Khadija Abba Ibrahim, stated they discussed the strategic implementation plan for the 2016 budget.

Buhari in closed door meeting with Saraki, Dogara, APC leaders

President Buhari was in a closed door meeting with Senate President Bukola Saraki, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, Chairman of APC, John Odigie-Oyegun, Imo state governor, Rochas Okorocha and other APC leaders this evening. It's not certain what the meeting was about but state house correspondents believe the meeting could be about the unsigned 2016 budget.

Police investigating the murder of a young man five years ago has made two new arrests. The arrests today, Wednesday May 4, were made in the investigation into the fatal stabbing of Adeniyi Lateef Shode (known as Aden or Enda - pictured above) in Northoit in 2011.

Detectives from the Met's Homicide and Major Crime Command (HMCC) arrested a 23-year-old man and a 24-year-old man on suspicion of murder.

Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, on Tuesday night, received Senator Iyabo Anisulowo at the Government House, Abeokuta, shortly after she was rescued from her kidnappers.
Senator Anisulowo who was kidnapped last week Wednesday regained her freedom almost one week after following a massive manhunt for her abductors.

With the active assistance of the Ogun State Governor who personally led the first search party to the scene of Senator Anisulowo's kidnap last week, security agencies were able to also arrest the abductors of Senator Anisulowo led by the kingpin of kidnapping in Ogun State.
