$600m Chinese Rail Loan Not Diverted – Okonjo-iweala

The immediate past Minister of Finance, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, on Sunday described as untrue allegation that a substantial part($600m) of the $1bn Chinese loan obtained for railway projects, was diverted.

Okonjo-Iweala, in a statement by her Media Adviser, Mr Paul Nwabuikwu, also explained that contrary to the allegation, the Kano-Lagos rail project was not part of the project listed for funding from the Chinese loan.

Tragedy struck on Majente Street, in Akute, Ogun State, when Ekene, the younger brother of 25-year-old Kenneth Chikwado Agbamone stabbed him to death following an al­tercation about washing dirty plates.

Kenneth and Ekene had a heated argument because the younger one failed to wash dirty plates the family ate with earlier in the evening.

1,150 PDP Members Defect To APC In Bayelsa

The All Progressive Congress (APC)’s quest to takeover the governorship seat in Bayelsa State got a boost today as the party received 1,150 new members ahead of the governorship election in the state slated for December 5, 2015.


The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that all the new members defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Some of those who defected were Mr Wenirepe Seibarogu, a former Deputy Governor, Mr Sam Inokoba, former state PDP Chairman, and Mr Timi Alaibe, former Managing Director of the NDDC.
Others include Sen. Heineken Lokpobiri and a former member of House of Representative, Mr Nadu Karibo.

The Ordeal Of a Job Seeker Who Traveled from Zaria To Abuja

11 Nigerian Universities Are Substandard – NUC

The National Universities Commission, NUC, on Thursday denied 11 private universities operating in Nigeria full operational licenses for their inability to meet set standards three years after they were issued provisional licenses.

Speaking at the presentation of the full operational licenses to nine other private universities, the NUC Executive Secretary, Julius Okojie, said the 11 affected private universities were given two years to get their full operational licenses, but failed to get in in three.

Ukraine Civil War: News Flash – Donetsk hit by over 800 artillery strikes (UPDATED)

The Russia media is reporting that today Donetsk was hit by a record 800 artillery shells.  The Telmanovo suburb was hit particularly hard, but the shelling was also very violent in the airport region.  Furthermore,  DNR intelligence services have reported a steady movement of Ukronazi forces towards the line of contact.
