Graphic Photo: Civilian robbed & killed by a Nigerian soldier, James Inuwa,in uniform.

This is 22-year-old Muhammad Sulum. He was robbed and killed by a Nigerian soldier, James Inuwa, in uniform on Thursday November 6, 2014, in Maiduguri, Borno State. On that fateful day, he was stopped by Inuwa who begged for a lift, got into his car and ordered him to drive. Later, he was told to park at a place where the soldier reportedly shot him at close range. The soldier then pushed Mohammed out of his 1998 Honda Accord and zoomed off with the car. He left Mohammed for dead but he was still alive and was rescued by passersby who heard his cries for help, handed him over to the vigilantes who then took him to a hospital where he later died.

Before he died, he explained all that transpired. The vigilantes contacted the family and told them. The deceased had left the house to purchase engine oil for the family generator before he was killed by one of the soldiers at a military checkpoint near their house in Bolori. Fondly called Baba, the deceased finished his first degree in physics at the University of Maiduguri and defended his undergraduate thesis two weeks before he was killed by a crazy member of the Nigerian Armed Forces. You can imagine the number of people these igbo and kaikai-driven soldiers have killed and no one has any idea of what happened.

His mother and other worried family members later found his corpse at the mortuary of a Maiduguri specialist hospital. The car was later found with Inuwa and another soldier where they stopped to buy fuel. Both soldiers have been arrested by civilian JTF who were alerted by a smart fuel attendant. They are now detained at a military formation in Maiduguri. The deceased was described as a very brilliant student expected to finish with a first class and was at the Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority in Abuja. His mother, Maryam, is devastated and the entire family say they want justice and will only take the Nigerian Army serious when the two soldiers are charged to court.

You see, one thing with many of these soldiers & officers is that they are just rogues, thugs, hooligans, hoodlums and beasts wearing uniform. Many of them don’t even know what they are doing. They think once they wear camo like this, they are gods. They think once you hear army like this, you should start trembling and worshipping them. The truth is that they are mainly bloody cowards parading with outdated weapons. They call Nigerians bloody civilians but they are the real shameless bloody cowards. The entire Nigerian military, all wings of the Nigerian Armed Forces and those advanced boys scouts that call themselves police need to be properly oriented and retrained and retrained. They know nothing of their job and have absolutely no idea of what civilian-military relationship should be. The only time you see them flexing muscles is when they are harassing unarmed and innocent civilians. Can they attack us if we all had weapons too? Bloody cowards.

Nigerian military authorities, we are calling on you to do the right thing. But how will they even do the right thing when everything is utterly corrupt? Even the recruitment process is corrupt. You need to be begging one general or baba at the top before you are employed. And you cannot blame many of these ‘soldiers’, na unemployment push many of them into the job, not all of them were motivated by patriotism or love for the nation. And by their fruits, you shall all know them. It is high time all Nigerians voiced out AGAINST THE MADNESS and brutality of the Nigerian soldiers on civilians sustaining their salaries, uniforms and guns with our own taxes. If not, the impunity will continue until we will have to turn against the soldiers ourselves.
