President Goodluck Jonathan stated his administration will ensure all state capitals in Nigeria are linked by rail to boost the nation’s economy. The President said this in London during the 17th meeting of the Honorary International Investment Council (HIIC), themed, “Rail Transportation.” Jonathan said with such nationwide rail coverage, roads and highways would be better maintained, adding, “If we do not link state capitals by rail, our roads will not last.”

We are committed to addressing this, as we have been working hard on improving our road networks significantly,” Jonathan said.
“We intend to initiate some new ones, which are very critical, especially that which links Port Harcourt to Bonny, the major gas exporting terminals of our country,” President Jonathan added.
