An earthquake of magnitude 6.9 has been registered in the southern the main Pacific Ocean, Fiji region, US Geological Survey (USGS) reported Saturday. The epicenter of the earthquake was registered to be 142 kilometers (88 miles) north-east of Ndoi Island of Fiji archipelago. The depth of the seismic focus was 421.9 kilometers (262.2 miles), USGS reported. No tsunami is expected, based on the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center. An earthquake of magnitude six or maybe more is regarded as being powerful and more likely to cause considerable damage in addition to cause a tsunami.
