LAGOS, January 4 (Ooduarere) — Edward W. Brooke, a Republican from Massachusetts, who was the first African-American prevalently chosen to US Senate, has kicked the bucket at 95 years old, CNN reported, refering to a family representative.
Ralph Neas has affirmed that Brooke kicked the bucket Saturday at his home, encompassed by the relatives.
“The Massachusetts Republican Party is proud to have had Senator Brooke as one of our party’s leaders, and we extend our deepest condolences to his family,” the CNN cited the representative for the Massachusetts Republican Party Kirsten Hughes as saying.
Representative Tim Scott of South Carolina, the main African-american Republican serving in the Senate, has broadened his sympathies through Twitter.
