PmNews reports that the 35-year old gospel preacher, simply identified as Lucky David, got arrested and charged before Ejigbo Magistrate’s court over stealing a Lexus SUV while he was preaching about repentance to the residents of Idimu in the early hours of the said morning.
He was said to have been preaching carried a Bible and bell while preaching to the residents of Idimu-Ejigbo road in Idimu and asking them to repent of their bad ways. One Mrs Stella Ogunfeitimi had started her car in readiness to go to work but went upstairs to get something she forgot. On seeing this, David sneaked into the compound and drove the vehicle with registration number KRD 646 DD out of the compound.
Mrs Stella however quickly contacted the Idimu division of Police when she got back and saw her car had disappeared. The police traced David to Iyana Iba-LASU road and arrested him. During interrogation, the culprit made it known that he actually came from Benin, the Edo State capital in southern Nigeria, with a mission to Lagos to steal vehicles. He said he had no permanent address and all he does is to preach in disguise of the evil work.
He was however charged to court for stealing. At the court, he told the presiding Magistrate, Mr Peter Nwaka, that he actually does not know the owner of the car personally before he stole the car. Although granted bail, the case is still pending in court as it was adjourned to 27th May.
