Dr. Temitope Aluko, a chieftain of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who was alleged to have reconciled with Ayodele Fayose, governor of Ekiti State has described the purported reconciliation as a mere propaganda aimed at tarnishing his image.
It was reported in the media on Sunday that Aluko who revealed the fraud that characterised the governorship election in Ekiti State and other irregularities against Fayose had reconciled with the governor.
However, Aluko at a press conference in Lagos on Tuesday, said he agreed to a purported peace meeting organised by two members of the party because of the respect he has for PDP, not knowing that it was a set up by Fayose.
He said,“I need to emphasise that all that transpired at Eko Hotel on that faithful day was an organised propaganda/drama to stain my image and malign my personal integrity and I believe it would be a good script for Nolly wood act.”
Aluko who regretted attending the meeting apologised to Nigerians over his initial decision to attend such meeting, which he thought was borne out of sincere mind.
“I only chose to attend the meeting in order to honour the party leader’s invitation. I will also like you to know that I am dealing with a master fraudster who is always full of mischief.”
The former PDP Secretary in Ekiti further explained that there was nowhere he refuted his revelations on the fraud that characterised the 2014 governorship election in Ekiti State.
“One fact remains clear, there is no where that I, Temitope Aluko, refuted anything I have earlier said before Nigerians and the whole world about the manipulations that characterised the 2014 governorship election in Ekiti State.”
The Ekiti born politician added that the entire counter allegation by Fayose and his media team after the revelation on the electoral fraud was not aimed at refuting his revelation but attacking his personal character.
Aluko explained that he agreed to face the camera in the purported media interview at Eko Hotel under duress and to safe guard the lives of his family members.
“I was shocked to see Governor Fayose walk into the meeting. It is worthy of note that it was at this point that my wife barged into the meeting to inform me that she noticed the presence of pressmen downstairs and there is a problem.” The pressmen according to Aluko were invited by Fayose without his the knowledge.
He denied the allegation by the governor that he want to set Ekiti on fire as untrue and insisted that there have been several attempts on his life since he had an interview with Channels Television where he revealed the massive fraud that marred the last election in the state.
