My Experience As A Corp Member In Benue State.


I remember the first time I saw my call up letter,I felt like the whole world had trembled on my feet. I felt sad and angry, ready to pour out my anger on anybody who came my way.
I remember not being serious about the whole camp thing anymore. I remember buying all my things a day before leaving.
At first,I was a bit confused on how I was going to get to the camp in Benue state. I remember going to the NYSC section on NL searching for corp members who were posted to the same state. Luckily for me, I found a bunch of then and I was added to a whatsapp group which was created by one of the monikers.

Nollywood actress Nnenna Nwabueze-Okonta aka Merit who featured in popular movie, “Living in Bondage”, is still mourning the departure of her late hubby, Chief Okonta. Nnenna’s hubby passed away on the 7th of March as the couple wrap up preparations for their 22nd wedding anniversary which was to come up on March 15, 2016 The deceased was laid to rest on the 19th of March 2016. The widow resumed acting last year after over 21 years of break. She starred in an Igbo film titled Ndi Gbo Ochie (Primitive) which was shot in Asaba Delta State. It’s painful loosing a loved one to the pangs of death. May God comfort her.

Man Jailed For 20 Years In Indonesia


A Nigerian national identified as Arinze Eneh has been sentenced to 20 years in jail and fined Rp1.2 billion for facilitating narcotic drug distribution.

"Arinze was proven to have conspired to commit an evil act by becoming a facilitator in the distribution of Category I narcotic drug," chief judge of the West Jakarta district court, Bambang Mursito, said while reading out the verdict on Wednesday, May 18.


Court Defers Metuh’s Application Asking For His Passport To Be Released

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Monday deferred ruling on the application of the National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Olisa Metuh to release his international passport to allow him travel abroad due to his failing health.
Metuh through his counsel, Onyeachi Ikpeazu, SAN, had on May 16, 2016 filed a motion praying the court to allow him travel to the United Kingdom for proper medical attention.

Our attention has been drawn to media reports regarding a court judgment alleged to have been entered against the Federal Government of Nigeria and Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala in respect of an action by the Socio-Economic Rights Agenda (SERAP) pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act.


The High Court, according to the media reports, ordered the Federal government and Dr. Okonjo Iweala to provide information relating to N30 trillion Naira allegedly unaccounted for.

A major suicide attack on the city of Kano was Saturday night aborted after a primed female suicide bomber, regained consciousness and escaped from the captive of suspected Boko Haram agents, who were driving her to her target.

The female escapee, Hajia Khadija Ibrahim, a mother of three, was kidnapped and drugged in Maiduguri and was driven to Kano, strapped with improvised explosive device, when their vehicle developed faults on transit.

Blessing Joseph lies on a sofa, her eyes fixed on the butt of a rifle that she says she won’t hesitate to use if Fulani herdsmen come back to her remote village in central Nigeria.

The 19-year-old student isn’t the only one. Teenagers and even young boys carry machetes and daggers in villages in the Agatu area of Benue state.

15-yr-old Murder Suspect Escapes From Edo Custody (photo)

A murder suspect, identified as Gift Edosomwan, who was arrested for allegedly killing a mother and her three-year-old daughter, has reportedly escaped from a juvenile welfare home, where he was being detained in Benin, the Edo State capital.

It was learnt that Edosomwan escaped last Saturday morning from the welfare home at Upper Sakponba.

OkoPoly Three Storey Building Collapses At The Permanent Site

A three storey building collapsed at the permanent site of Federal Polytechnic Oko, Amaokpala, Anambra State, today Monday 23 May, 2016, at about 8:45 am. According to eye witnesses, they started hearing funny cracking sounds from a part of the building, and in less that 10 minutes, the building was flat on the ground.. The NEMA team was there in no time to rescue the situation. As at now, there is no accurate number of casualties, but will update once a concrete information is received. Meanwhile some of the injured are receiving treatments at various hospitals. More pictures below...

The sack of Senator Ali Modu Sheriff as the chairman of our great party, the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, came to me as a very big relief.

The sack was long overdue as we had always maintained that Sheriff had no business being the chairman in the first place. Although we were maligned by some party members and citizens alike for insisting that Sheriff must go as he was bad news for the PDP, his sack at the Port Harcourt convention has justified our stand.

Fayose Bans Cattle Grazing In Ekiti, Says; “cattle Farmers Must Own Ranch

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has banned grazing and rearing of cattle in the State, saying those interested in cattle farming should get their own private cattle ranch and that a bill to make movement of cattle from one location to another criminal in the State will soon be sent to the State House of Assembly.


Governor Fayose, who made this known when he visited Oke-Ako in Ikole local government area of the State that was invaded last Friday by Fulani herdsmen that killed two residents of the town and injured others, warned that government will henceforth confiscate any cattle seen anywhere in the State apart from ranch created for them by their owners.

Ahmed Makarfi Visits Shehu Sani

The interim National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi, has visited the senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Shehu Sani, over the demise of his mother.

Hajiya Fatima Abubakar Sani died on Saturday at her Tudun Wada residence in Kaduna on May 21 2016. She was aged 75.

Late Fatima, who has since been buried according to Islamic rites, left behind five children including Sen. Shehu Sani and 20 grandchildren.

Nigerian man and woman arrested for possession of cocaine in South Africa

A 29 year old Nigerian woman and a 31 year old Nigerian man were yesterday May 22nd at different times arrested at the Cape Town International Airport for possession of cocaine. According to South African Police Service officer, Van Wyk, the police were conducting random stop-and-search duties at the domestic arrivals at about 11.20am when they approached two African women.

One of the women’s bags was searched by a constable who discovered five small packets concealed in a pair of socks, wrapped in black pieces of plastic.

According to him, the officer asked the bus driver for bribe which he refused, he then jumped into his bus dragged him down and started beating him. The 17-year-old housemaid, Rhoda, who accused her Lebanese boss, a chef with a prominent Lagos hotel, Hassan Ali Husseini, of molesting her while working for him, has put to bed.
