Ndigbo Group Commends Buhari Over Appointment Of NNPC GMD

A group representing the people of South East Nigeria, the Ndigbo Cultural Society of Nigeria (NCSN) has commended President Muhammadu Buhari over the appointment of Dr. Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu as the Group Managing Director of Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC.
The group said the appointment of the new NNPC GMD who is from Delta State in South south Nigeria has shown that the President listened to the outcry of Nigerians over the imbalance in the appointments he has made so far.

“The appointment of Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu from Delta State South-South Nigeria, to head Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) is a step in the right direction, even though it is still a far cry but Ndigbo welcomes it with a standing ovation,” Chief Udoka Udeogaranya, President of the Group said in statement.

The Group however asked the President Buhari not to allow anything or counsel to stop him from appointing a South-Easterner to the only remaining principal office of his government, the office of the Secretary to the Federal Government (SGF), otherwise he would be running a government that undermines Ndigbo nation and that may not encourage loyalty from Ndigbo.
The Group also wished the President well and urged all sons and daughters of Ndigbo to him a chance and due respect as the father of the nation, with the hope that his government will do its best to be fair to all Nigerians.
