Armsgate: Ohanaeze Declares Nwobodo Persona Non Grata

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo on Tuesday passed a vote of no-confidence on former Governor of old Anambra State, Senator Jim Nwobodo over his reported involvement in the controversial $2b arms money.  They, therefore, asked the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to arrest him without further delay. Nwobodo, who was named by former NSA, Sambo Dasuki to have received N500m has defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC, a move many had described as a move to shield himself from EFCC prosecution.

However, in a joint press briefing addressed by the national President of Ohanaeze Youth Council, OYC, worldwide and the national secretary, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro and Okwu Nnabuike respectively, they called on Nwobodo to immediately tell Nigerians the beneficiaries of the said sum.
The group said if he failed to disclose the beneficiaries within the next 21 days, it would take appropriate action to ensure that the full weight of the law descended on him.
The apex Igbo-socio-cultural organization said “we charge Nwobodo to let Nigerians know how he disbursed the N500m which he received from Dasuki.
“He should take clue from Dasuki as well as Chief Tony Anenih, who have since disclosed how they shared money made available to them.

“Since Nwobodo said the money was meant for Jonathan’s mobilization campaign in the South-East, he should let the world know how he disbursed the money; he should disclose the identities of all the South-East leaders and politicians who received money from him and how much he gave to each of them. If he pocketed the money, he should also let the world know.”
Speaking further, the OYC maintained that defecting to the APC would not save any person who had participated in sharing the nation’s common wealth.
“We are aware that he has decamped to the APC, and we agree with Nigerians, even members of the APC, who have viewed his defection as a ploy to evade justice.

“However, we want to tell him, including other politicians who are considering such defection as a way of escaping justice, that there is no escape route. If they like, let they change their surname to Muhammadu, it will not save them from going to jail.
“We also wish to remind him that President Muhammdu Buhari jailed him as a military head of state and so history is about to be made as the same President may jail him again; this time, he may bag bigger sentence.
“The EFCC should not hesitate to arrest all the people who had in one way or the other contributed to running this country’s economy down. All we ask the commission is that it should be total and thorough in its arrest and prosecution. No looter should go unpunished.”
