We Have Decimated Boko Haram – Chief Of Defense Staff

The Nigerian Military yesterday insisted that troops operating in the North East have decimated Boko Haram terrorists to the point that it can no longer launch attacks and claim territories.
Chief of Defense Staff, General Gabriel Olonisakin, said in a statement that: “Boko Haram has been degraded and they are not fit any longer to carry out coordinated attacks; but of course suicide bombings are an issue we are still battling with.”

General Olonisakin assured that the military will tackle the suicide attacks being carried out by the insurgents and finally bring to a close the scourge of the Boko Haram insurgency in Nigeria.
The military chief spoke while joining Minister of Defence, Brigadier General Mansur Mohammed Dan-Ali, in commissioning a project of the Nigerian Air Force in Lagos. He explained that degrading the operations of the insurgents has reached a level that the terrorist group could no longer function in the North East.

The Minister of Defense said that The President had reiterated his commitment towards addressing various security challenges across the nation in order to spur Nigeria’s socioeconomic development.
Dan-Ali identified the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Boko Haram, and the Niger Delta militants as criminal organizations, adding that: “there is no doubt that activities of criminal organizations such as Boko Haram, Indigenous People of Biafra and Niger Delta militants have continued to pose serious threats to our cherished democracy and the corporate existence of Nigeria.”
He commended the Nigerian Air Force for its effort in curbing the terrorists in the North East, adding that the strategic bombardment of the terrorists’ camps, provision of close air support to the ground troops, conduct of air patrol, reconnaissance, casualty/medical evacuation and provision of tactical mobility to and from the operational theatre have elevated the profile of the force in the over military operations.

“The need for a strong, virile and proactive air force that can proudly defend our airspace and make Nigeria a leading air power on the continent cannot be overemphasized. Considering the ever-changing geostrategic environment, it is important to note that the Chief of Air Staff’s vision of repositioning the NAF for effective, efficient and timely employment of air power to meet the grand strategy for National Security is a step in the right direction.”
Similarly, Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadiq Abubakar, commended troops fighting in the North East, adding that the Federal Government was doing much to ensure that the Nigerian Air Force regains its past glory.

He called on Nigerian Air Force personnel to continually subordinate themselves to civil authority adding that, “you should guard your utterances as you interact with the populace and never allow yourself to be used to achieve any selfish political goal.”
